The main characteristic of Reflect, the new white waterproofing and surfacing range from KEMPER SYSTEM, is that it utilizes liquid synthetic materials with particular properties to effectively reflect UV and infrared radiation away from the roof, ensuring the surface temperature remains cooler than when using traditional darker roofing materials.
KEMPEROL® Reflect 2K is a flexible and breathable, solvent-free waterproofing membrane that can be applied directly to the prepared substrate on newbuild or roof refurbishment projects.
An additional layer of Reflect can also be installed quickly and easily to existing KEMPEROL® roofs.
KEMPERDUR® Reflect is suitable for overlaying bitumen roofs where the solar reflectance needs to be increased.
Excellent SRI Values -Tests carried out at the Fraunhofer Institute show that the KEMPER SYSTEM products have exceptional solar reflectance index (SRI) values.
In comparison to the SRI values achieved by KEMPEROL® and KEMPERDUR® Reflect, a black control substrate had an SRI value of 0, and a white reference surface,
achieved an SRI value of 100. The higher the value, the cooler the roof.
The degree of solar reflectance is roughly 87% for both Reflect products. Referring to the amount of sunlight that is reflectd by the roof.
Effective Cooling - KEMPER SYSTEM commissioned German technical inspection agency, TÜV, to document the cooling effect of various waterproofing systems on roof surfaces. They observed a difference of 40% in favour of Reflect when compared against bitumen substrates at an outdoor temperature of 22°C. A convincing result!
With buildings that utilise air conditioning systems, Reflect applied to exterior surfaces can reduce energy consumption, save costs and lower the carbon footprint.
The reflection of sunlight on roofs with some PV systems helps to improve the energy yield.
Reflective surfaces minimize the heat island effect, helping to lower temperatures in built up and inner city areas.
